Island licensed Home Inspectors are required to provide clients with a copy of their state license
prior to the inspection. Home Inspectors must also be licensed mold assessors if they offer or perform mold assessments (inspections).
Certified Indoor Environmentalists have proven that they have the experience and have passed the CIE exam,
one of the requirements for a mold assessor license after March 2011. Prior to March of 2011 hundreds were “grandfathered”
in as mold assessors; only 2 (two) home inspectors in Collier and Lee Counties had passed the CIE exam.

be certified by the FL DOH.

"Begining
January 1, 1989, no person may test for or mitigate the presence of radon in Florida for
a fee or other renumeration unless such person has been certified."
"It is
a violation of Chapter 404, Florida Statutes and Chapter 64E-5, Florida Administrative Code to provide radon services without
being currently radon certified by the Florida Department of Health. Specialists and technicians must provide radon services
only through affiliation with a Florida certified radon business. Businesses and individuals will be fined for non compliance."

New Florida Mold Law
In a effort to protect the citizens of Florida, Florida
Governor Crist signed Mold / Inspection legislation (SB2234) into law (2007). The law regulates the Mold Inspection industry
and Home Inspection individuals. The Florida
Department of Business and Professional Regulation handles the licensing and enforcement. Florida law requires Mold Assessors
(inspectors), Mold Remediators and Home Inspectors to each have a sparate license. No license qualifies for
anonther license; Home inspector license does Not qualify for Mold Assessor license. - Home
Inspectors are required to have $300,000 general liability insurance.
- Mold Assessors (inspectors/testers)
are required to have at least $1 million general liability with errors and omissions insurance.
- Mold
Remediators are required to have at least $1 million general liability insurance.
