Can Some Companies Perform Radon Tests Cheaper?

Often companies do not have workman’s comp, environmental consulting
or even liability insurance. ·
Some companies buy a cheap monitor (CRM) and make their own reports. This
is illegal unless they are a Florida Department of Health Certified Radon Measurement Business. · Some may even send an employee that is NOT certified to pick up or place the radon test, this also illegal in Florida. · Many Companies are not certified by the FL DOH, they take a radon class for free on the net and “believe”
they are legal. Consumers never ask (maybe 10 times out of over 13,000 radon tests) If a company only performs a few radon tests they usually do not use CRM’s (monitors) Some companies use a passive test that takes several days to
get results but they still pay at least $30 for the test. (2 tests required by law for Real Estate deals) Consumers:
Choice: $15 test kit
or $4,000 monitor with hour by hour report Always check report for FLDOH Measurement Business Number (example: RB1938) Always check that person performing the test is also FL DOH certified
(example: R1751) . It is a violation of Chapter 404, Florida Statutes and Chapter 64E-5, Florida Administrative Code to provide
radon services without being currently radon certified by the Florida Department of Health. Specialists and technicians must
provide radon services only through affiliation with a Florida certified radon business. Businesses and individuals will be

The occupational license office says:
"You cannot get an occupational license for radon testing unless
you are certified by the FL DOH to test.

The person placing and / or picking up a
radon test must be FL DOH certified and have an occupational license for radon testing ( an occupational license for home
inspections does not qualify).
